Description

Shaligram is a fossilized shell used in South Asia as an iconic symbol and reminder of the god Vishnu. Shaligrams are usually collected from river-bed of Gandaki River in Nepal. They are typically in the form of spherical, black-coloured Ammonoid fossils of the Devonian-Cretaceous period which existed from 400 to 66 million years ago.

Historically, the use of Shaligrama (or Salagrama) Shilas in worship can be traced to the time of Adi Shankara through the latter's works. Specifically, his commentary to the verse 1.6.1 in Taittiriya Upanishad and his commentary to the verse 1.3.14 of the Brahma Sutras suggest that the use of Saligrama in the worship of Vishnu has been a well-known Hindu practice.

Among the natural objects held in extraordinary veneration in India, the salagrama-stones (black stones in which fossil ammonites are embedded) are the most celebrated universally. The worship of these stones is widespread and dates back to a distant past. They are worshipped in temples, monasteries and households all over the country, as visible and natural emblems of Vishnu. The sipping of water in which these stones are bathed is a daily ritual for the pious Hindu belonging to the old and traditional families.

Keeping Salagram in house is similar and Equals to offering respect to lord Vishnu. As per hindu traditions if we keep Tulsi(Holy Basil) and Shaligram together it will not create poverty, money problem ,uhappiness, fearness, illusion in that house .Any Diseases insects will not enter in that home.

It is a belief in vaishnavism that worship of Salagram stone wash away all sin of past and Present .One will attain Boon of 1000 Cow donation to Brahmin if someone worship salagram in house. Those bless worshipper is always near to lord narayana.
