PREFACE

Truth is stranger than fiction. I never thought of writing a book on planetary periods and their transit, for the simple reason that I don't consider myself capable of doing it. I got a chance to teach this subject to 4th semester students at D.A.V. Pusa Road, New Delhi. I prepared my notes on this subject. My compilation got the shape of this book because of guidance of my teachers and active support of serious students.

There is another incident worth narrating. I was staying

at Los Altos, a suburb of San Fransisco, USA with my son, daughter-in-law and grand daughters. Our neighbour curiously asked what was I doing with so much concentration. I politely replied, "I am making notes to teach Astrology - the divine science or better still the science of life". We discussed the principles of prediction and usefulness of Astrology Before departing he wished to have a book based on sacred wisdom of ancient vedic scholars. Today this book is in your hand. An earnest attempt has been made to present this divine knowledge to English speaking people in a systematic and scientific way.

This book is divided in 13 chapters. The first chapter deals with planetary position in a sign and house and it impact on results of planetary period and subperiod.

This idea is further expanded in second chapter an rules for interpretation of planetary period as cuddled from views of various ancient scholars of Astrology are given How the behaviour of a planet changes when it is placed its signs of exaltation, positive sign, own sign or debilitated sign, is discussed in third chapter.
