PANCHANG AND MUHARAT :A JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF VEDIC ASTROLOGY
Description
THIS IS THE INDIAN EDITION OF THE BOOK After a child is born, the first thing the parents and the family Jyotiṣī looks for is the PañcÄá¹…ga and the condition of Candra. Life is expected to be favourable if the PañcÄá¹…ga elements and their governors are favourable. PañcÄá¹…ga is incredibly useful in MuhÅ«rta and PraÅ›na. While the use of PañcÄá¹…ga in MuhÅ«rta is widely discussed, its usage in PraÅ›na is largely hidden. For classifying time, the Naká¹£atras are classified into Ká¹£ipra, Ugra, MiÅ›ra, Dhruva, Má¹›du, TÄ«kṣṇa and Cara. The effects of the Naká¹£atras are based on these classes. All have effects following their nomenclatures. The VÄras are classified into Saumya and KrÅ«ra. The Yogas (Nitya yogas) are also classified as Åšubha and AÅ›ubha. Out of 27 yogas, 8 are considered AÅ›ubha. The four Sthirakaraṇas are avoided for Åšubhakarmas. Among the seven Cara, Viá¹£á¹i is avoided. The Tithis are classified into five groups NandÄ, BhadrÄ, JayÄ, RiktÄ and Purṇa. The RiktÄ Tithi, 4, 9 and 14 are avoided. Generally, the Oja Tithis, besides the 9th, is favourable. A well selected MuhÅ«rta can help in tilting the balance towards the favourable side, even though the Janmakuṇá¸alÄ« has negative yogas. MuhÅ«rta allows us to overcome the blemishes of a Janmakuṇá¸alÄ« to an extent. This proves that indications of a Janmakuṇá¸alÄ« are not set in stone, and life allows us to make the best use of options granted to us.
